While no licence is required for EWP operation with a boom length of 10.99m or less, an operator must be competent before operating an EWP.

This course is designed to provide the theory that an operator would be required to know about operating the machine.

This course, when combined with practical on-the-job training, can be utilized by employers to ensure their workers are skilled and to fulfill compliance with WHS and OHS regulations.

Topics covered by this course include:

  • Types of EWP’s and Terminology
  • Inspections and pre-operational checking
  • Safety devices
  • Site hazards and controls
  • Emergency procedures and Operating EWP’s

The EWP awareness training is delivered entirely online and features a highly interactive format, with all content presented through engaging multimedia.

It is designed for your convenience, allowing you to complete it gradually, with your progress automatically saved, enabling you to log in and out as you please.

At the successful completion of this course you will be issued with a Certificate of Completion.

Before using an EWP, an operator must be provided with appropriate practical training for each type of EWP that they are required to use.

Once the theory and the practical training have been completed, an operator is able to use an EWPs (up to 11 metres) without the need for a licence.

The Elevated Platform Awareness course is not accredited; however, it does provide the theory for using EWPs in a competent manner.

We recommend that EWP awareness training be refreshed every 2 years.
