More Information

More than 2 in 10 Australian businesses (22%), experienced a cyber security attack during the 2012-22 financial year. This is compared to almost 1 in 10 (8%) in the 2019–20 financial year as report in the Australian Bureau of Statistics data.

Cyber security is the practice of protecting systems, networks and programs from digital attacks.

This course is one of the controls put into place to protect business and customer data, intellectual property, the business reputation, costs and longevity.

The “defence in depth” analogy, is used in cyber security to add layers of controls to more effectively defence a business against an attack.

People are fatigued by small and constant interruptions, but small measures such as updating antivirus software, having a secure and unique password, keeping software up to date, even locking your screen when you are away from your computer, are all small measures to protect the business from an attack.

The LastPass password manager data breach that occurred could have been prevented had their employee kept their software up to date on their home computer. The software that the hacker compromised to access personal data, had not been updated for over 3 years.
